I'm a country girl. I live surrounded by fields. I own a farm. I love to work in the dirt, walk the fields and breathe in the beauty of nature. So, when I have a client who wants to have their photos taken in a country setting. I'm all for it..

Capturing your senior year is an exciting milestone, and there’s no better way to celebrate it than with a photoshoot in a beautiful country setting. There are so many stunning backdrops to choose from: country roads, rustic barns, wild flowers, lush woods and golden fields. Any of these can elevate your senior photos to capture who you are and showcase this time in your life. To make the most of your session, here are three key tips to ensure your senior photos are extraordinary.

1. Wear Clothes That Match the Country Vibe

Choosing your outfit can make all the difference in your rural photo session It is important to harmonize with the rustic charm of the countryside.

Consider flowy dresses, jeans and a pretty top, denim jackets, or classic flannel shirts. Avoid overly formal attire, like high heels (we don't need you face planting) or glitzy dresses, which can clash with the casual vibe of the countryside.

Feeling comfortable and confident in your outfit is paramount. If you are a jeans and t-shirt kinda person then I'm all for you wearing what you love. I don't expect you to come to your senior session dressed in something you wouldn't normally wear, so choose clothes that are you. Studies show that confidence can improve how you appear in photographs, and when you love what you’re wearing, it shines through!

2. Wear the Correct Color Tone

The colors you choose for your outfit can profoundly influence the mood of your photos, especially in the countryside where nature's hues abound. Selecting outfits that enhance the vibrant greens, browns, and golden yellows will make your photos pop.

Earthy tones like sage green, peach, dusty blue, cream or soft browns complement the natural backdrop but also help you feel more connected to the environment. For example, a soft beige dress can blend beautifully with a field of wildflowers, while a faded blue denim compliments the greens in the grasses and trees

Avoid busy patterns and bright colors that may distract viewers from the beautiful scenery. Instead, focus on muted solid colors or subtle designs that highlight you while allowing the country beauty to shine.

Think of what your surroundings will be and the colors that will be at play during your photos session then choose the colors of your outfits to compliment nature's colors. For example, combine a soft pastel dress with a striking backdrop of lush grass and wildflowers to create a serene and dreamy image. Or you could choose a deep burgundy dress, to beautifully contrast against a field of golden wheat.

3. Don't Skip Texture

Incorporating texture can add depth and interest to your country senior photos. Different fabrics and layers can create a more dynamic look and enhance the story your photos tell.

Think about layering! A knitted sweater over a flowing dress can add a visually appealing contrast. For instance, pairing a denim jacket with a lace top can create a lovely mix that draws attention. Additionally, accessories like scarves or hats can add character and texture without overwhelming your look. In fact, a study found that textured fabrics can make images appear more engaging, capturing viewers’ attention.

Your senior photos commemorate a significant chapter in your life. Employing these three tips—choosing outfits that embody the countryside vibe, selecting colors that complement the natural landscape, and incorporating texture—will help create unforgettable images that showcase both your personality and the beauty around you.

As you gear up for your photoshoot, embrace the surroundings and let your unique style shine. With some careful thought and creative flair, your senior photos can be eye-catching keepsakes you will cherish for years.
