Photo Shoot Jitters? No Problem! Tips for Rocking Your Next Session with Me

Feeling nervous before a photo session is completely normal. Whether it’s your first time or you're a seasoned model, those pesky jitters can creep in. But don’t worry! I’ve got some easy tips to help you channel that nervous energy into producing stunning photos. Let’s take a look at how we can make your next photo session a smooth and enjoyable experience!

  1. So you're not a model. It's okay, I've got you.

From the moment we begin, my goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere where you can truly be yourself. I understand that everyone has their own unique style and comfort level, which is why I take the time to get to know you before we start shooting. This connection allows me to tailor our session to your personality and preferences, ensuring that you feel comfortable throughout the process.

When it comes to posing, you don’t need to worry about coming up with creative ideas on your own. I will guide you into poses that feel natural and highlight your beauty. Rather than stiff, unnatural positions, I focus on movements and expressions that capture genuine moments. I will demonstrate poses and encourage you to move in ways that feel good to you. This approach not only results in stunning images but also helps you to feel more relaxed and engaged.

  1. Be YOURSELF

Photography isn't just about posing. In fact, I like to make it less focused on posing and heavy on interaction. It's about YOU, not some photo you may have seen on social media. It's about capturing authentic moments, being yourself, and embracing the beauty of you. I encourage you to express yourself, laugh, and interact with your surroundings or the people with you. Embrace who you are. There is no pressure to perform when you get in front of my lens. If you are more of a quiet individual then let's play on that beautiful aspect of your personality. If you are personality times 1000 then I'll just step back and let you fly. The truth of the matter is that the most beautiful photos are the ones where a person feels truly comfortable and that is what I aim to capture. These candid moments often turn out to be the most beautiful images. I will be there to capture these fleeting expressions of joy and connection, creating a collection of photographs that tell your story.

  1. Choose the Right Outfit

Your outfit can greatly impact your confidence. Wear something that makes you feel AMAZING! Maybe it's that new flirty dress, or your favorite pair of jeans with a trendy jacket. If you love what you're wearing, it will shine through in your photos.

When selecting your outfit, consider the location of our shoot. For example, if we’re shooting outdoors amidst greenery, soft earth tones like taupe, cream, dusty blue, peach or light brown can enhance the natural backdrop. If we’re in an urban setting, colors like navy blue, black, white, forest green or burgundy can stand out vividly against the city landscape. Accessories, like a statement necklace, jacket, sunglasses or a unique hat, can also add an exciting touch to your overall look, so get creative with choosing your outfit!

  1. Breathe, Smile, and Relax

When nerves start to bubble up, take a deep breath and shake it all out. I'll even do it with you. I'm not above shaking my whole body out or shaking by booty. The goal of my photo sessions is always to have my clients have fun. If you're feeling stiff or uneasy, we'll shake it out together! Fun and laughter will transform nervous energy into authentic and true to life photos, so don't be shy let that laughter roll!

Ultimately, the goal of our photography session together is to create lasting memories that you can cherish for years to come. Each photograph will serve as a reminder of this moment in time, capturing not just your appearance, but also the emotions and experiences that accompany it. You will walk away not only with beautiful images but also with a renewed sense of confidence and appreciation for yourself.
